Gift for a Teacher: Crayon Wreath

I just love Pinterest!  It is the perfect site for all us "Marthas" at home.  This was my first project and it turned out great. Found this wreath and knew that I would be able to make with a few minor changes. I can't have it be just like everyone else! What is the fun in that?  Cannot wait to give it to Dominic's teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week!

Supplies:

• 1 -8" embroidery hoop
• 1 -12" embroidery hoop
• 3 boxes of 24 ct. crayons
• 1 roll of craft ribbon, works best with wired ribbon
• various die cuts and/or stickers (I just bought "school" stickers from Hobby Lobby)
• alphabet stickers for teacher's name
• hot glue gun (I used high temp) and glue sticks
• ruler

Steps:

1. Unscrew the screw from both hoops and hot glue the ends together (I used the inner hoops and will save the outside hoops for another project).
2. You can paint the hoops, i chose not too...
3. Glue the ruler to the back of the hoops, it will keep the hoops equally seperated while arranging the crayons. I did not do this and regret it, hoops kept shifting.

4. Lay all crayons on the hoop in the desired color order. This helps with placement when you begin to glue them all down.


5. Glue down each crayon. If you are a perfectionist like me, make sure that all crayons are facing the same way. I arranged the crayons in a rainbow for each box of crayons.

6. Attach die cuts with hot glue. If you purchased stickers like me, just stick them on the crayons, the smaller ones I glued just in case.

7. Thread craft ribbon in and out at the top of crayons and again at the bottom. I tied my knot behind the crayon to keep the ribbon tight.

8. Tie large bow at the top making sure you leave a long enough loop to hang the wreath. You can add hot glue for reinforcement on the hoop.  

9. Add teacher's name to the ruler using alphabet stickers.

This wreath turned out so cute and it cost under $12 to make! (Hint...purchase the school items when they are on sale at the end of summer for "Back To School"!)
